A Historic Launch for Western China's Space Industry

The inaugural Western China Commercial Space Conference convened on June 27, 2026 in Xi'an — China's aerospace heartland. Organized by the Xi'an Municipal Government and Shaanxi Provincial authorities, the conference brought together government leaders, aerospace enterprises, research institutions, and investors to chart the future of commercial space in Western China.

The event was headlined by the unveiling of Western China Aerospace Technology (Shaanxi) Group Co., Ltd. (西部航天科技集团) — a newly formed ¥500 million registered capital entity backed by Xi'an's top industrial players, aiming to build China's next-generation commercial space ecosystem.

Held at the Xi'an High-tech International Convention Center, the conference attracted 800-1,000 delegates from government bodies, aerospace research institutes, leading enterprises, and investment institutions — making it the first national-level full-spectrum commercial aerospace event in Western China.

Five Major Achievements Announced

💰 ¥50B Credit Line from China Development Bank

Five major banks — Xi'an Bank, Chang'an Bank, CMB Xi'an Branch, ICBC Xi'an Branch, and CITIC Bank Xi'an Branch — each committed ¥10 billion in comprehensive credit lines, totaling ¥50 billion to support the development of Western China's commercial aerospace industry.

🏗️ 725-Acre Intelligent Manufacturing Cluster

A massive 725-acre manufacturing cluster will be built in Xi'an High-tech Zone, with Phase 1 covering 171 acres and Phase 2 covering 554 acres. The cluster will house production facilities for rockets, satellites, ground equipment, and supporting supply chain companies, creating a vertically integrated aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.

🚀 "Thousand Stars, Hundred Rockets" Strategy

Western China Aerospace Group announced its ambitious 「千星百箭」 strategy: launching 1,000+ low-orbit satellites and 100+ liquid-fueled rockets over the next five years, under two core brands — "XiWei" (西卫) for satellites and "DaQin" (大秦) for launch vehicles. Production targets: 3 satellites in Year 1, 30 in Year 2, and 300 per year by Year 3.

🤝 17 Enterprise Cooperation Agreements

Seventeen enterprises signed cooperation agreements covering satellite manufacturing, launch services, ground systems, and data applications. Five companies have been publicly confirmed so far.

🔬 4 Innovation Platforms Established

Four new innovation platforms were announced: the Xi'an Commercial Aerospace Innovation Center, plus three joint university-industry research institutes with Xi'an Jiaotong University (satellite tech), Northwestern Polytechnical University (launch vehicle tech), and Xidian University (TT&C tech).
